The Breweries

Druthers brews its hand crafted beers in each of its locations. The breweries are visible from the pub and make for a really cool dining experience. The Albany location is equipped with a 30BBL brewing system with five 60BBL fermenters, while the Saratoga location operates with a 10BBL brewing system, four 10BBL fermenters and a single 20BBL fermenter. We brewed over 3,000BBLs in 2015 and expect to double that production in 2016. Be on the lookout for a bottling line in 2016 - late summer!

The Brewmaster
Brewmaster

Druthers' master brewer is George de Piro, winner of three gold medals at the Great American Beer Festival and gold, silver and bronze awards at the World Beer Cup. George is a biochemist turned supreme beer geek. He’s the proud owner of an extensive beer coaster collection, is an avid cyclist, and fondly refers to his OCD as 'attention to detail'.

Awards

"The Dare" Gold at 2014 World Beer Cup

The Dare is a great example of an old German-style sour ale called Gose - pronounced go-za. It's brewed from a blend of German wheat and pilsner malts. While the hop character in this beer is very low, it is spiced with coriander to give it a distinct citrus aroma. The really interesting bit is that aside from ale yeast, lactobacillus bacteria ferment the beer, imparting natural, refreshing tartness. A small amount of salt is added; just enough to round out the malt flavor.

We're not the only ones who love it: it won the Gold Award at the 2014 World Beer Cup(TM) in the German-style sour ale category!
